Hewitt Associates merges with Aon Consulting

12 July 2010 Breaking News

Hewitt Associates will merge with a subsidiary of Aon Corporation in a $4.9bn deal, it was announced today.

Hewitt, a global HR consulting and outsourcing company focused on the large corporate market, with more than 3,000 clients, will be integrated with Aon Consulting under a new Aon Hewitt brand. The combined worth of Aon Hewitt revenues is expected to total $4.3bn while the workforce will number 29,000 associates.

The division will be led by Russ Fradin, chief executive of Hewitt.

Greg Case, chief executive officer of Aon Corporation, said: "This agreement reflects our ongoing efforts to ensure that Aon's associates, capabilities and technology remain at the forefront of our industry, providing distinctive client value.

"As we continue to grow our business, this merger will give us a broader portfolio of innovative products and services focused on what we believe are two of the most important topics in the global economy today - risk and people."

The news follows the merger of benefits consultancies Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt earlier this year.
