ALC Health is opening an office in Malta as part of its expansion across Europe.
In March the international private medical insurance provider appointed Sue Wilson to head up an expanded European office in Spain. Wilson will be responsible for heading up all business through the Malta office, which will be based in the town of Sliema. One representative will be based in the office.
At the last census in 2005 the number of foreign residents in Malta exceeded 12,000. Figures from the census showed that 4,713 expats came from the UK and accounted for a third of foreigners with smaller numbers of 585 Italians, 518 Germans and 127 French.
Andrew Apps, director of ALC Health, said: "Malta is fast becoming an alternative choice to Spain or Portugal for Brits and other western Europeans who are looking to move abroad. It has always been a popular destination for holidaymakers and many are looking to settle enticed by the good weather and helped by the fact that English is widely spoken."
