Income protection provider Cirencester friendly has launched a tele-interviewing service to improve the application process of its flagship product 'Income Assured Plus'.
The new service will be provided by MorganAsh, which conducts interviews for a number of insurers including Aviva, Bupa and Friends Provident.
Applicants to Cirencester friendly may now take part in a telephone interview with a specialist nurse from MorganAsh, acting on behalf of Cirencester friendly, who will gather details about their health and medical history.
Paul Hudson, Chief Executive of Cirencester friendly, said, "Tele-interviewing is fast becoming the preferred approach for companies wishing to streamline their application process because it is faster and provides a greater depth of applicant information at the first stage. This also benefits the applicant because it minimises the risk that they will be rejected for non-disclosure."
The Cirencester service will comprise 'little t' underwriting with the applicant providing most information in the traditional application form way, and nurse interviewers exploring more detailed elements of their medical history.
IFAs have expressed mixed views about 'big t' tele-interviewing. While it can dramatically reduce non-disclosure it removes the adviser from a key part of the application process, which can make it more difficult for advisers to explain the underwriter's decision to clients.
