Life insurer Zurich has introduced a new underwriting feature which it claims will simplify the online application process for plans due to cease before the age of 55 years.
By removing the family history questions and a number of personal medical history questions, the provider said it has reduced the number of underwriting questions advisers are required to complete online at the application stage. According to Zurich, advisers will now be required to complete approximately thirty questions instead of around sixty questions on behalf of their client depending, however, on their smoker status.
The move has been endorsed by a Premier Mortgage Services, the mortgage distributor whose proteciton panel includes Friends Provident, Legal & General, Norwich Union, Scottish Provident as well as Zurich.
John Malone, managing director of Premier Mortgage Service, said: “All intermediaries with clients should now be reviewing what protection cover they have in place even though their client may have been made redundant, are between employments or in employment. It is pleasing to see Zurich, who is one of PMS's preferred protection partners, making such a commitment to the intermediary market."
