The largest private hospital outside of London - BMI The Alexandra - has appointed a new executive director, Philip Oehley.
Originally from South Africa, Oehley has over 16 years' management experience having begun his career in hotel management before moving into healthcare, working as executive director for a number of Netcare hospitals, parent company of UK-based BMI Healthcare. After moving to the UK, he worked as executive director for BMI The Hampshire Clinic in Basingstoke, where he managed the hospital's move into more complex general surgery work, expanding the service offering.
"While most private hospitals don’t offer the full range of services, BMI The Alexandra is unique in offering an almost full range of medical specialities," he said. "My role is to capitalise on this unique offering, cementing BMI The Alexandra’s position as one of the leading private hospitals in the North West."
BMI The Alexandra is currently undergoing an £8m refurbishment and service expansion programme, with all seven theatres and all fiive wards remodelled and refurbished.
