The Capita Group plc has appointed Martyn Pritchard, formerly chief executive of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, as business development director for its health business.

During his career, Pritchard has been seconded to the Department of Health as the national policy lead for the government’s ongoing Choice initiative, where he led the policy team. He was also part of the initial procurement team for the NHS Choices project. From 2002 to 2006 he was chief executive of Calderdale Primary Care Trust.

Capita's health business includes a number of activities, including health consultancy, health informatics, property advisory services and more. In addition, it also carried out large outsourcing contracts for the health service, including NHS Choices.
