Lord Leitch, the chairman of Bupa, is being lined up as the new senior independent director of Lloyds Banking Group, it has been reported.

Leitch, who is also former chairman and chief executive of Zurich's UK operations, is expected to be appointed at the bank's annual meeting. According to reports in the weekend papers, he is thought to have already agreed to take on the role although the appointment has not been finalised.
