Advisers have an opportunity to sell life cover to women before prices rise in December, says Scottish Provident
Scottish Provident is urging advisers to promote life cover among female clients before EU legislation pushes up prices at the end of this year.
The provider has today launched a campaign calling on intermediaries to take advantage of what it calls a window of opportunity to sell more life insurance to women.
From December 21 2012 when the EU gender directive comes into force, providers will no longer be able to take gender into account in underwriting, which Scottish Provident says will add up to 15% to the cost of life insurance policies for women.
Roger Edwards, proposition director at Scottish Provident, said: “As much as the EU ruling caused us consternation at the time it was announced, the countdown to December 21 is a fantastic opportunity for advisers to engage with their female clients and promote the need for life insurance.
"It’s a simple message to get across - buy now or pay more later - as prices won’t be this cheap again."
